Where Dalmatian mountains meet the Adriatic

Discover the Wild Side of Split

Just beyond the beaches and buzzing streets of Split lies a world of rugged peaks, pine forests, and ancient trails. Join us on a week-long guided hiking adventure across Mosor, Kozjak, and Perun — three mountain ranges that frame the Adriatic with unforgettable views.

This isn’t just hiking. It’s history, myth, and nature woven together:

  • Climb to Mosor’s highest peak and watch the islands stretch across the horizon.

  • Trace the ridge of Kozjak and step back in time.

  • Explore Perun, a mountain steeped in Slavic legends, where sunsets turn the sky fiery red.

  • Wind down with authentic Dalmatian food, stargazing nights, and time to explore Split’s UNESCO-listed Old Town.

Mosor is the place of mythical importance for Split and its area as well as one of its guardians and in most cases first step in more serious mountaineering. In the past it nurtured and hid shepherds and farmers, renegades and partisans while now is attended by nature lovers and people wanting to experience a real mountain feeling with as many faces as the seasons that in winter months paint its ridges white and color vividly its meadows in spring.

Being in shade of its „big brother“ Mosor very few people are aware what a little jewel Perun is. History of this micro region needs to be mentioned – inhabited ever since Illyrians and others who followed all the way to the unique Poljica republic that for centuries managed to stay independent in the turbulent times surrounded by Venetians and Turks.

Just north of Split, the Kozjak mountain range stretches like a natural balcony above the Adriatic.

Suitable for lighter and medium hikes it will nevertheless give you a lot of pleasure with its forgotten villages, forest trails on one and rocky paths on the more exposed other side.

Depending on which hike level you chose the perception changes but views from the high up won’t let you down, especially those to the inland or the middle Dalmatian islands.

Along the way you will see valleys, passes, ridges, little churches, abandoned stone houses and terraces once used for agriculture and cattle, mountain huts and shelters and so on. Your guide will be there with you all the way to interpret the things you see and always ready to give useful hiking tips.
