To start with, many English (native) speakers find it difficult to pronounce Mljet, so if it's you, this is how it's done: mil-yet.

This is a tailored tour so before you decide what kind of experience you feel like having, please read the options.

Upon meeting in Korcula town or close to the place of your stay, you are taken by speedboat to the mythical Ulysses' cave on the south side of the island (outside the national park), where you can swim into the cave and spend some time enjoying its ambience. Then you return to the boat and head on to the north side of the island into the national park.

Alternatively if the conditions on the sea don't allow safe water access to the cave, we will organize a car/van transfer to the cave and back. After the transfer gets you to the closest point to visit the cave there is about half an hour hike to get in the cave that implies wearing sneakers or at least solid adventure-type sandals to be able to walk safely.

After the cave you start hiking or walking on a trail winding through the woods of Mljet that unlike many other Dalmatian islands is abundant with shade. Based on your preferences, we'll start the walk further or closer to the lakes with enough time to stroll around them, take a swim in the warm water or simply relax.

Optionally, you can choose to skip the Ulysses' cave, hiking and spend the whole day in the national park to explore its colorful and mind-blowing exquisiteness on foot, combined with boat ride on the lakes and a visit to Melita islet with a monastery on the big lake.

On the other hand, if you feel like more active, we'll also take you cruising around the park by bike or kayak.

So, when you book the tour let us know whether you want to visit the cave and get around the park in an active or in a more leisure way – we'll adapt to your wishes and create this tour just for you.

Lunch is in a local restaurant after which your boat will start returning toward Korcula in the afternoon.

Last but not least, the tour can be done by public catamaran ferry instead of speedboat. If interested, ask us and we’ll explain the details, costs, etc.

Visiting Ulysses’ cave on foot can be little tricky, (the last bit of the trail is steep and narrow), so we recommend it only to people with similar hiking experience.

For those who want to know more about the island, one story reflecting its captivating beauty goes that an exiled Roman nobleman upon having settled on Mljet never wanted to leave it even after its sentence expired and to explain himself to the amazed emperor he sent him a pine bough with a bird's nest on top and a shells cluster on the bottom of it as the ultimate evidence he was living in paradise. And this is just one in many fascinating stories this island of mild Mediterranean and elements of subtropical climate has to tell.
